Chéreau et les contextes binationaux de production

Les co-productions s’inscrivent dans un cadre à la fois institutionnel et privé. Le contexte de la collaboration entre les Amandiers et l’Opéra de Bruxelles illustre ce double éclairage.

Le premier opéra de Chéreau à Bruxelles, monté en 1985, avait d’abord été représenté à Nanterre en 1984. Il s’agit de Lucio Silla, qui est aussi la première confrontation de Chéreau avec Mozart. Milan, Nanterre et Bruxelles sont partenaires de cette aventure à la fois personnelle et publique, qui permet la découverte d’un opera seria de jeunesse considéré comme mineur et peu connu, voire ignoré par les musicologues

La circulation de Lucio Silla sur l’axe Paris-Bruxelles montre comment le geste créatif de Patrice Chéreau a pu être influencé spécifiquement par certaines variables : le partenariat avec Gérard Mortier, la prise en compte du statut socio-symbolique de l’opéra, la politique de subvention, les initiatives de formation. La coproduction fait également émerger la problématique des stratégies de coopération avec le spectateur et particulièrement de l’intertexte de réception, visé par le metteur en scène.

The framework of coproductions has institutional aspects but refer also to individual factors. This phenomenon is illustrated by the relationship between Les Amandiers and the Opera of Brusssels.

The first opera of Chereau in Brussels(1985), Lucio Silla, has been coproduced with Nanterre (1984). It was the first contact of Chereau with Mozart. This partnership between The Scala, Les Amandiers and La Monnaie allowed to discover an early work of Mozart, an opera seria that most muscologists considered as a minor piece. The work of Chereau as a stage director was influenced by several variables : his collaboration with Gerard Mortier, his approach of the social and cultural role of the opera in the years 1980, the role of the State towards culture, the expectations of the audience. Behind these factors, the coproduction also gave Chereau the opportunity to work on the cooperation witn the spectator and especially to develop some specific intertexual reception strategies.
